Diary of Events 2008

The Ford & Fordson Association will be represented at many venues around the UK and the Republic of Ireland in 2008 including the main events listed below. If you know of an event or would like to organise an FFA stand or display at your local show, a road run, a ploughing match or a working day please get in touch with one of the FFA Committee but most important of all contact The Secretary with all the details as soon as possible so that the information can appear in the Diary Dates below or in the News Page of the magazine.
 
Saturday 03 & Sunday 04 May
FFA Cork Show
After two successful years with nearly 300 Ford Fordson and derivative tractors present in 2007 the 2008 event promises to be bigger than ever. The main theme will continue to be Ford and Fordson, however the local tractor club have asked if they can display a general range of tractors which will make the show a little different than previous years.

Cowpie Show Day

Grassland Show
Stoneleigh, Warwickshire.
The Ford & Fordson Association have been asked by New Holland to put on a display of vintage tractors on the New Holland stand.

Sunday 25 & Monday 26 May (Bank Holiday)
Roadless at Carrington
Despite being plagued with weather problems over the last two years, Carrington Rally is forging ahead with exciting plans for 2008 and has confirmed that Roadless will be the main theme for the forthcoming event.
Stuart Gibbard, the editor of Old Tractor and author of the Roadless book, is helping organise the display and the Ford & Fordson Association will have a presence at the event.

Yorkshire Vintage Association Show
Newby Hall & gardens.
Every one enjoyed the FFA 2007 Expo at Newby Hall, Ripon that we have been invited back by the Yorkshire Vintage Association. As the main FFA Expo will be in Ireland, the committee has decided that we will once again be part of this event enabling all interested people across mainland UK to be part of the FFA gathering.

East Midlands Vintage Working Weekend.
This event has moved to Commons Farm located on the A6 between Desborough and Market Harborough within the parish of Braybrooke. We felt this genuine working event could not stop so we have managed to find a new home for the 2008 working weekend. This year's fifth event is one week later than usual with 50 acres to plough.
The theme for this year is FORD with a collective auction on Saturday starting at 10.30am. Chosen charity is the local Air Ambulance. This event has a reputation for attracting rare and interesting tractors, crawlers and working machinery. A strong David Brown, Marshall, Allis-Chalmers, Nuffield, Ford and Caterpillar presence is expected!

Fingal Show
County Dublin, Republic of Ireland.
The 2008 Expo will be held at the popular Fingal Show organised by the Fingal Vintage Society Ltd, just a few miles north of Dublin. This will be a splendid venue where the host Michael Hoey, Bob Mullen and the club will pull out all the stops to make this one of the biggest tractor shows to be held in Ireland.

FFA East Anglian Working Day
Stoneleigh, Warwickshire.
The annual East Anglian FFA Gathering, in conjunction with the Tivetshall Old Ram Tractor Club, will be a working day at Mardle Farm, Tivetshall, Norfolk, by kind permission of local farmer Kenny Gapp. There will be static exhibits, working machinery and also the East Anglian area qualifier for the FFA Ploughing Championship to be held at Diseworth, Nr. Loughborough on 20th/21st September, 2008.

Great Dorset Steam Fair.
The FFA will again have a stand with a small selection of tractors on static display at the world's largest steam and vintage fair.

Kegworth Vintage Group - Working Weekend.
The FFA in conjunction with the Kegworth Vintage Group will again be holding their working weekend and ploughing match at Diseworth, which has become the largest gathering of working Doe Triple D tractors, a truly spectacular sight indeed.
